As I recently passed 150 subscribers to this newsletter on Substack, I have decided to enable paid subscriptions—as much to finally remove the nagging notification from my Substack dashboard as anything else. I expect this will prove to have been a tremendous waste of my time, but you never know.
To that end, if for whatever reason you would like to pay me to directly support my work, you are now able to do so. The prices (all in AUD) are $5 monthly, $40 yearly, and if, for some reason, you wanted to contribute even more than that, $100 to join the so-called ‘Hadlee Tier’. I tried to set it lower than $5 monthly, but couldn’t, as that is the lowest limit.
I want to assure everyone that I have no intention of paywalling any of my writing. I like writing to the widest possible audience and have no desire to artificially limit that audience behind a paywall. Choosing to subscribe will not gain you access to any extra content or articles (I’m really selling it, aren’t I?); it is simply a way to directly support me if you like what I am doing here. My intention is for any subscription fees to go directly back to supporting this blog, which would include things like purchasing a CricketArchive subscription so I can dive even deeper into obscure stats and scorecards, purchasing an NV Play subscription to get greater access to ball-by-ball replays, and purchasing a Canva (or similar) subscription so I can produce better graphics and DataViz within these articles.
If, understandably, paying a monthly or annual recurring subscription is too much, or you just don’t like my work that much, I have also created a BuyMeACoffee account, where you can make one-off donations and offer your support. Any money donated here will go towards the same things as above. You can access that here or by clicking the button below: https://buymeacoffee.com/beyondcowcorner
I would like to extend my sincerest and most heartfelt thanks to anyone who does choose to directly support me, and, equally, extend my appreciation to anyone who’s just here to read some free articles about cricket: I see you and you’re valid.
Anyway, back to the cricket. Unless anything crazy happens between England and India, my next planned article is on the evolution of the number five role, with a feature on Mathew Sinclair’s career to follow after that. Exciting times!
